ISLAMABAD:— Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) held a networking session with Mr. Mark Ellison, Managing Director, Texas Emerging Technology Fund and with Mr. Faisal Amin, President Texas Trade Council (TTC) and US Honorary Investment Consular, in Islamabad on Thursday, June 28. The purpose of the event was to identify opportunities for investments, technical partnerships, international business development and collaborative research with Pakistani companies and educational institutions. Federal Secretary for Information Technology, Farrakh Qayyum, was the Chief Guest. The event was attended by various businessmen and leading IT professionals.
PSEB signed an MoU with TTC during the event. The MoU aims to promote trade in the area of Information Technology between Pakistan and Texas, establish mutually beneficial educational and industry finance programs, and to carry out matchmaking activities. TTC helps Texas-based business organizations to expand into foreign markets and assists in recruiting foreign companies and investors.
PSEB also signed an MoU with Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd., organizer of ITCN Asia. ITCN Asia has been the largest IT, Telecom & Media trade show in the region for the last seven years. PSEB also announced that it will be organizing a high-level CEO Forum in this biggest IT event on August 10, 2007. The theme of the conference will be “Corporate Success in the Knowledge Economy”. An unprecedented panel of speakers includes CEO & Executives of Leading International finance, research and technology corporations. The conference will be attended by CEOs of leading Banks, Telecom Companies, Energy Companies, and multinationals in the country as well as international delegates, Government officials and leading local and international media.
Consultations between Mr. Ellison and the Pakistan IT Industry were held to facilitate foreign investment and funding into Pakistan’s Information Technology industry. The 500 million dollar Texas Emerging Technology Fund is a program designed to grow the economy in the long run by expediting the development of new technologies and creating jobs in technology fields.
PSEB is a Government agency mandated to promote Pakistan’s IT industry including software, services, hardware and call centers locally and globally. Pakistan’s IT exports crossed USD 1 billion in the last year and IT exports growth in each of the last four years has been 50%. PSEB has been facilitating the IT industry through its programs in Human Capital, Office Space, Marketing, Company Capability Development, Telecom Bandwidth, Industry Finance, Public Policy, Strategy & Research, and Facilitation.
