Si3 signs multimillion dollar contract deal with NLC

The National Logistics Cell is a national provider of Transportation, Engineering and Tolling Services and also the largest logistics company in Pakistan. In addition to Fleet Logistics, NLC operations include management of Dry Ports, Highway construction and maintenance activities, as well as Toll collection at highways.
In June 2004, NLC released a Request for Proposal for deploying a Fleet Management System and a Financial System for their operations. Si3 responded to this RFP with a 600+ page document in July 2004. After a thorough review of the proposal and presentations, Si3 was chosen out of the final four contenders which included SAP and Oracle implementers.

The eNLC project aims at establishing a solid business infrastructure within the organization, positioning it to expand its interests to the Telecom, Energy and Manufacturing sectors as well. This implementation involves deployment of a Fleet Management System by DCS, Holland and Oracle E-Business suite. This project also includes deployment of a nation wide private network for NLC which would support applications, email, Voice-Over-IP and Video Conferencing. Lotus Notes will provide email, document management and workflow applications. The servers include an IBM’s state-of-the-art pSeries (p5) server which will host the ERP, Payroll and Fleet Management applications and three IBM Xeon-based xSeries servers which will run Lotus Notes, LDAP and Antivirus applications. NetApp hardware will provide disaster recovery to NLC.
The project is being managed by a dedicated Project Management Office that will be coordinating all the project activities among Si3, NLC, Contractors and Suppliers.
This nationwide rollout of eNLC project will be supported by Si3 Karachi and Islamabad offices including any necessary customization of the application and support the IT solution for NLC’s overall business. Si3 will be working closely with NLC’s business and IT teams to deliver a high quality business solution.
